Welcome to RiverTowne Repertory Players!

Athene Bunn (New Bern's first lady of theatre) died on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the the Courtyards at Berne Village leaving behind a legacy of theatre memories.
Many members of RiverTowne Repertory Players became involved in theatre when she directed "Oklahoma" and from that show until today can recall the many lessons of the theatre that she has taught to us. This was in 1969 and the production still holds a special place in our hearts.
Athene was the backbone behind RiverTowne Repertory Players becoming the theatre that it is today. She directed "Night of January 16th" in 2001 which was our second production after we organized our theatre group. This production was held in the Craven County Court House and many New Bernians can recall taking part in this.
We shall always remember Athene and the valuable lessons that she taught each of us. Her famous stage direction was "Get out of that straight line "which we will never forget. Thank you Athene for all the memories you have left to us. We will always love you.
Upcoming 2010 Productions:
Disney's Alice in Wonderland, Jr, will be presented October 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, 23, 24, 2010
The RiverTowne Repertory Players proudly encourages, promotes, and practices theatrical arts in our community.
Our productions include locally written plays and music, educate in all aspects of theatre, and promote enjoyment, not only by audiences, but participants as well.
We encourage and work with various theatre groups in the local school system as well as surrounding areas to include Craven Community College. We strive to provide quality theatre, dinner theatre, and some of our productions are done in total communication.
In January 2009, the Valley of New Bern Scottish Rite invited us to use the Masonic Theatre for our productions. We gladly accepted their offer and relocated in April to this beautiful, historic facility.
In exchange for the use of the Theatre, the Scottish Rite receives half of the proceeds, in which are donated to assist them in the continuation of their work locally and with the RiteCare Childhood Language Program.
